The Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Turkey (IEIS) General Assembly was held on October 6-7, 2012.
In the distribution of tasks that took place in the Board meeting following the General Assembly, Nezih Barut, was again elected to the position of Board Chairman and Ali Arpacıoğlu was assigned as Deputy Chairman.
In his speech at the General Assembly, Chairman Nezih Barut said, “We are all aware that our industry is going through a worrisome period and has gotten to a bottleneck in terms of sustainability. Since 2009 continuous price reductions are being made and discounts are being increased under the name of budget applications.
When determining these budgets it is important that the share reserved for pharmaceutical expenditures is determined in correspondence to the high quality widespread service and with consideration for the share that the sector receives from the economy.”
Barut who said “Last year we, as Association, determined a vision to carry the industry to a different point with an awareness that it needs to be carried much further forward. The year 2023, in which we will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of our Republic, carries great importance and meaning. Important tasks fall on the shoulders of all sectors on the road map that has been prepared with the goal of Turkey becoming one of the largest 10 economies in the world. It is based on this concept that we set our goal for 2023 as the pharmaceutical industry, which is one of the key sectors in our country’s reaching a position of competitive edge in the global arena, to globalize in parallel with our country’s goals and become one of the important pharmaceutical producing and exporting countries in the world” added that despite all of these adverse conditions faced by the industry they were continuing to work with great enthusiasm towards the goals that have been set.
