Our Association collaborated with the Competition Board to organize a meeting titled “Competition in the Pharmaceutical Sector” on June 28, 2013.
The opening speeches of the meeting were given by the Competition Board 2nd Chairman Kenan Türk, our Syndicate Board Chairman Nezih Barut and the Competition Board Istanbul Branch Director Dr. Av. Kemal Erol.
In the speech by Nezih Barut he said that: “Competition is a concept which contains very different elements and has economic, legal and social dimensions. As you know, its most important function is to provide consumer benefit and economic efficiency. It is very important that competition operates efficiently for our pharmaceutical industry, which provides a vital product directly relevant to human health. We can clearly see that the findings which have been meticulously provided in the report are very valuable and need to be examined with care. We believe that the actions which are recommended in the framework of these findings should be deliberated by all of the sector parties in platforms similar to these and their applicability assessed”.
In the meeting which was participated by over 100 pharmaceutical companies and legal offices, a presentation was given concerning the “Pharmaceutical Sector Research” prepared by the Competition Board and disclosed to the public recently. After the presentation the official authority views were presented by the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Organization of Turkey officials and the views of the private sector were conveyed by our Association, AİFD and TEB to the participants.
